Rob Thormeyer serves as Director of Communications and Advocacy for the Utilities Technology Council, focusing focuses on external communications, message development, and press relations. Prior to joining UTC, Mr. Thormeyer served as an advisor for former Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Member Colette D. Honorable. In that role, he assisted Commissioner Emeritus Honorable on public affairs, speechwriting, and media relations. He drafted congressional testimony and official correspondence as well. Mr. Thormeyer began his public-relations career at the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners as its Director of Communications. His first profession out of college was journalism. Mr. Thormeyer wrote and edited for publications covering a wide variety of energy and IT issues, and received bylines in the Washington Post. He received his bachelor’s degree in History from Mary Washington College (now the University of Mary Washington) in Fredericksburg, Va.
